CORVALLIS, Ore. — Just a day after Oregon State fell 37-34 to Colorado in overtime, the Beavers head coach Jonathan Smith announced a change to his coaching staff. Tim Tibesar is out as the team's defensive coordinator.
“I felt it was the right time to make a change in our football program and have relieved Coach Tim Tibesar of his duties at Oregon State," Smith said in a statement Sunday evening. "All of us thank Coach Tibesar for his hard work and professionalism the past four years and wish him nothing but the best moving forward."
Oregon State's defense has allowed an average of 405.7 yards a game, the third-worst mark in the Pac-12. They've also given up at least 31 points in each of their last four games.
Tibesar has spent the last four seasons with Oregon State, joining the program after three years with Wisconsin.
Linebackers and assistant head coach Trent Bray will take over defensive coordinator duties for the remainder of the season for Oregon State.
The Beavers are preparing to host Stanford on Saturday at 2:30 pm. Oregon State is 4-0 in Reser Stadium this season.
