...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 AM PDT MONDAY
ABOVE 2500 FEET...

* WHAT...Heavy snow expected above 2500 feet. Total snow
accumulations of 6 to 12 inches, except with 1 to 3 feet over
the higher terrain above 3500 feet. Winds gusting as high as 35
mph.

* WHERE...Eastern Douglas County Foothills, including portions of
highway 138. Eastern Jackson County, including Butte Falls and
Prospect. Highways 62 north of Prospect, 140 near the Cascades
foothills, and 227 north of Trail.

* WHEN...Until 11 AM PDT Monday.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult to impossible.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

* Travel is strongly discouraged because of dangerous
conditions. Do not detour during winter storms.

* If you must travel, keep tire chains, a flashlight, blankets,
food, water, medications, and a fully charged phone with you.

* The safest place during a winter storm is indoors.

* A Winter Storm Warning means that severe winter weather is
imminent and poses a threat to life and property. Take
protective action now.

Beach Volleyball at SOU

ASHLAND, Ore. -- Southern Oregon University announced the addition of a beach volleyball program to the university back in December 2021. 

Along with the new sport, the Raiders also welcomed back an old hall-of-fame coach to lead the program. Paul Elliott earned the title of winningest volleyball coach in SOU history after he led the indoor team from 1991-2006. During that time, Coach Elliott compiled a 381-166 record. 

"His character, experience and dynamic coaching style are a perfect fit for us," SOU's Athletic Director, Matt Sayre, said. 

Elliott now takes on a new challenge, expanding the sport of beach volleyball to the Southern Oregon community. The team began play in the middle of February when they faced Bushnell in Salem. Since then, the Raiders have a 3-5 overall record.

"We're just trying to grow. We're new to this. We have one or two viewers who have this kind of experience out of all of us. So, we're just looking to continue to grow and get better," Elliott said. 

You can catch the Raiders on the sand Saturday morning in Eugene when they take on Corban.
