MEDFORD, Ore. — Mountain of the Rogue trail system is open after parking lot expansion along Interstate 5 near Rogue River.
The U.S. Department of Interior Bureau of Land Management (BLM) says today it opened an expanded parking lot at the Mountain of the Rogue trail system to at least double parking capacity. Besides providing 35 spots, it upgrades traffic flow with a one-way loop.
Spring rains delayed the project that was set for completion mid-June. New parking at the popular Mountain of the Rogue trail system adds to BLM's new beginner flow trail there, expanding the system to 13 miles of trails. It says, "The system is designed so that the further you climb the more technically challenging the trails become. Expert level riders who ascend to the top of the system will be rewarded with technical hand built single-track while beginner riders can stay down on the lower slopes and enjoy smooth flow trails with ample features to progress their skills."
