...Abundant Lightning On Dry Fuels Expected Thursday...
...RED FLAG WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM PDT THIS EVENING
FOR ABUNDANT LIGHTNING ON DRY FUELS FOR FIRE WEATHER ZONES 280,
281, 284, 285, 617, 621, 622, 623, 624, AND 625...
* Impacts: Lightning and high fire danger will likely result in
new fire starts. Gusty thunderstorm winds could contribute to
fire spread. Despite rainfall, initial attack resources could
be overwhelmed and holdover fires are possible.
* Affected area: - In northern CA, portions of Fire Zones 280...
281...284 and 285. In zone 280, this includes the McKinney
Fire and Scott Valley. In zones 281, 284,and 285 this
includes Yreka, Macdoel, Tennant, Canby, Alturas, and
portions of the Klamath and Modoc National Forests. In
southern Oregon, portions of Fire Zones 617...620...621...
622...623... 624...and 625, including the Windigo Fire,
Ashland, Medford, Prospect, Crater Lake, Toketee Falls,
Klamath Falls, Chemult, Paisley, Lakeview, and portions of
the Umpqua, Rogue River- Siskiyou, and Fremont- Winema
National Forests.
* Thunderstorms: Isolated this morning, then becoming scattered
this afternoon and early evening with abundant lightning. Storms
may be on the dry side in the morning before becoming wetter
during the afternoon. Winds will be gusty and erratic in and
near thunderstorms.
* Additional Details: The most likely area for scattered
thunderstorm activity is expected to be from roughly Klamath
Falls south and southeast across eastern Siskiyou and Modoc
County. As thunderstorm activity persists into the early
evening, some scattered coverage may develop in southern Lake
County. Otherwise, isolated coverage is expected for other areas.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Abundant lightning on existing very dry fuels could cause
numerous new fire ignitions. Gusty and erratic outflow winds
could also create extreme fire growth potential.
