Meet the dogs up for adoption at Jackson County Animal Services

Stop what you're doing and head on over to the Jackson County Animal Shelter! Right now, the shelter is overrun by pit bull type dogs and they need your help. This weekend, May 28th & 29th, the adoption fees for all pit bull type dogs will be reduced to just $50 - a 66% discount from the regular $150 fee. No appointment is needed and walk-ins are welcome. The hours are from noon to 4 p.m. All of the dogs have been screened for temperament and health issues and determined to be adoptable companions. Most of these dogs are estimated to be less than 3 years old. All have been spayed/neutered, microchipped, received flea treatment, and are up-to-date in shots. A collar and leash will be included for each dog. Here's who you can expect to see:

A 3-year-old, well-mannered girly who weighs about 55 pounds. She is described as very friendly, affectionate and a lap pet.

A handsome, active boy, who is estimated to be about 1-2 years old and weighs about 60 pounds. His favorite thing to do? Chasing around balls and bringing them back to you.

A sweet and affectionate 2-year-old girl. She's quite the "dainty" pittie at only 40 pounds. Fun fact about Darcy? She's a little smartie and likes "enrichment" type toys, like Kongs and puzzles.

Named after where he was found, Diner is about 2 years old and 60 pounds. He's pretty much an overgrown puppy! He has lots of energy and loves to play.

A really mellow guy, who is estimated to be 7 years old and weighs about 75 pounds. He's very friendly with people and he likes socializing with other dogs.

A handsome, big boy, who is estimated to be just over a year old and weighs about 70 pounds. He's really enjoyed playing with other dogs at the shelter - especially the ladies - and he loves playing with toys!

A 4-year-old boy who is described as "curious". He's also a pretty smart guy! He already knows how to sit, shake, and lay down.

Some of the other dogs you can expect to meet are Lola, Frankie, Daisy, Harlee and RC. For more information on Pittie-Palooza and the dogs you can meet this weekend, please click here. The Jackson County Animal Shelter is located at 5595 S Pacific Hwy 99 in Phoenix.
