temperatures into the ave gathered here this morning for the relay for life. it's a walk for cancer survivors and i talked to some of them today who say events like this mean a lot to them.' nicole says "i never once thought that i was going to give up. i just always tried to wake up everyday." today was a time for cancer survivors to share their stories, for the community to show their support, and to help raise money for cancer research daryl says "an event like this is unpresidented" daryl is griggs is the youth coordiator at the relay for life. he's been doing this for more than 10 years daryl says "i've got to hear everyone's stories about how it has affected them, how i'ts affected their family their coworkers." and he introduced me to cancer survivors here today nicole says "i was diagnosed with breast cancer." and today....all of nicole warner's coworkers are here to show their love and support. nicole says "it's so supporting and wonderful to see so many people that care about you." nicole says "it makes me emotional" it's nicole's first year at the relay for life. but others come annual to show their support. jeff says "i've been a participant for about 17 years now" but for the first year, jeff bernie is wearing purple. jeff says "it's always been emotional, even before my cancer but now it's even more so but it's more powerful as well now." the relay for life helps jeff to see that he's not alone. nicole deflavio has also been a long time participant nicole says "my daughter was diagnosed with ovarian cancer at 19. and a i lost my mom to cancer and my grandmother so i have been this big cheerleader, doing this, thinking i was just raising money fo research and i didn't realize i was acutally helping myself because the cancer that i have ...if i would have gotten this 10 years ago i wouldn't be
