temperatures will dominate the region saturday afternoon. high temperatures will reach the low to mid 90s for our westside valleys and northern california communities with temperatures climbing into the mid to upper 80s in the klamath basin. coastal communities will warm into the low to mid 70s this afternoon after the patchy fog burns off later this morning. winds will remain gusty along the coast, in the cascades and in the klamath basin, gusting up to 20-30 mph. tonight: partly cloudy to mostly clear skies will be seen around the region once again tonight. temperatures will remain fairly mild overnight, only bottoming out in the mid to upper 50s west of the cascades with temperatures cooling into the mid to upper 40s east of the cascades. the gusty winds we will see today in the klamath basin will subside during the overnight hours. extended: sunshine and hot temperatures will remain dominant in the region through the weekend. early next week, temperatures will soar into the low 100s west of the cascades with temperatures reaching the mid 90s east of the cascades. a few temperature records west of the cascades could be challenged. we do look to stay dry, hot and bright through much of next week. a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms could build into the cascades and klamath basin by thursday into friday along with "cooler" temperatures. we'll continue to keep you updated as the situation develops. that's a look at what you can expect for the week ahead. thanks, jeff.
