now-- classified classified employees at southern oregon university might be going on strike. just before school starts." nat take two line classified employees at public universities are the custodians, it specialists, ground keepers and plumbers. david raco we are doing the work that needs to be done often behind the scenes to keep the campus running. david raco is the president of the sub local union at sou take david david raco what we want is to be respected and treated fairly today raco told me his group is not getting the same pay increase as faculty and administration. and it's not just at s-o-u. he says this is happening at all 7 public universities in oregon. david raco they are telling us that they literally don't have the money to give you the money that are you asking for because we've already taken care of everyone else and you are just last so sorry. that makes us feel like we are not really apart of the team for their perspective and that's our largest problem. raco says his group is asking for a three point 75 increase this year and next year. to make up for the one percent increase the group got the past two years. that offer has been made and if they don't get it. the group might strike at sou. david raco that is the idea. we are currently collecting strike pledges from our members. today i spoke to oregon's public universities spokesperson. she says the university's are offering a fair contract of 12 percent of wage increases over two years. here's what it says in a press release: this increase is made up of a two year total of 2 point 5 percent in c-o-l-a increase and a 9 point 5 percent in step increases. this friday final offers need to be submitted.
