walking these hallways is a completely new experience for most freshman. but in less than three hours, these students will become official high schoolers. that's yreka high's fight song. it's one of the first things freshman learned after filing into the gym for yesterday's orientation. "i'm more excited than nervous probably." sammi's just one of yreka high's almost 200 freshman. she is worried about one thing. "just not being able to make it to my classes on time. and just getting lost. but hopefully, i'll find my way around." upperclassmen say they've all been there. they want freshman to feel comfortable in the classroom. "not to be nervous. cause high school isn't as scary as it seems. and questions are always good." they say freshman should know there's a lot to look forward to. like homecoming week in september. "we have rallies planned and dress up days." freshman will be able to join different clubs. like upward bound and music groups. regardless of what students choose to join, teachers have one piece of advice.
