upward bound, and joins us live from yreka high to tell us more about this club's accomplishments. c-d-e-f-g-a-b-c. students in the vocal ensemble here at yreka know the notes in that c scale. even though it's only the first day of school, students tell me they're starting rehearsal today. that's what yreka high's vocal ensemble sounds like. "i've been in chorus since i was in the fifth grade, since i was about ten or eleven. i've always had a really big love for music and singing and all the joy it brings me." it's jordan's second year in vocal ensemble. she rehearses in this room, with the other 21 members of the club. "i want to be part of this music that brings so much joy into my life. and brings this feeling of when i'm low, it can bring me back up and make me feel good again." she'll be heading to carnegie hall with the vocal ensemble in november. students tell me it's the chance of a lifetime. "you never hear kids say i went to sing at carnegie hall." the group will be singing seven songs at carnegie hall. and they'll be performing with eric whitacre. "it's a huge honor to be part of this and to perform on this stage known throughout the world they'll be directed by eric seiler.
