at 5:00. abliene bushong was almost done with a 448 mile hike on the siskiyou peaks trail. you're seeing photos from that hike now. mount shasta was the last section of the five week hike. she and her hiking partner thought they were hiking down a snowfield. it turns out they were on whitney glacier. bushong and her hiking partner started glissading- or sliding down. they hit a bump and went flying into the air. she came down and slipped down 20 feet into a crevasse on the glacier. "if i had just slipped another inch i would have gone down the tunnel and never been found. i would have been out of sight. no one would have ever heard me. i would have been gone." two c-h-p helicotpers were called into help. they airlifted rescue crews to the glacier. a ranger hiked down to the bushong and lowered a rope to her. she was taken to mercy mount shasta for treatment. bushong is out of the hospital. she has cuts and bruises to her face and legs. she says she's sore but otherwise feeling okay. bushong says she's just grateful to be alive. earlier that
