sports awards. it goes to the best male and female student athletes playing for non-n-c-a-a division one schools. today it was awarded to oregon tech's mitchell fink. but if you ask him, it could go to the whole team. mitchell fink says, "it's not just me winning it, it's our team and program that wins it. so i think that all those guys and all the work that they've put in and all the sacrifices they've made on the court for our team all add up to this kind of stuff. it really breaks down to being an award for each and every one of us." fink helped lead his team to the n-a-i-a division two national championship, where the team fell just short of its fourth title. while in his second year as a team captaion, fink was also tabbed as a first-team all- american. he also led the owls in points, assists, steals, minutes and free-throws made. on top of all of that, fink led all of n-a-i-a in assists per game. according to his coach, his success all started before the season did. justin parnell says, "everything that he's earned and gotten over the last year is really, or was really done, in the offseasons prior because he puts in so much work. it's really nice to see him put in all that work and focus and what not, and be honored with an award like this." fink becomes the third oregon tech male athlete to receive the ad rutschman award since 2001. between male and female award winners, fink is the seventh hustlin' owl to win. this year, fink beat out conor bailey from willamette university and zach beltz out
