at the trailhead of ratpack trail takes us inside the hike up tin pan peak, in this weeks take a hike. [e3]take a hike: rat pack trail-pkg "well i am here at the trailhead of ratpack trail up to tin pan peek. it is in the city of rogue river, right off of i-5. it is very easily accesible, for us in the rogue valley. let's take a hike. getting there is easy. take exit 48 into the city of rogue river. turn right on depot, start of the trail, you are going to be able to hear on i-5 next to you. don't worry though, the higher you get hike, the trail is about 2 to 3 feet wide. so you will most likely be going single file for this one. overall, the hike is 2.6 miles, with a 994 ft. ascent. it's average grade is 8 percent. but don't think you have made it out easy yet. it does have a max grade of 20 percent. that grade will increase as you get closer and closer to the top. on the way up, you will get some incredible views looking over the top of i-5, out at the rogue valley. the best time to do this hike is early in the morning. there remember, is that this trail is commonly used by mountain bikers as well. so, always be on the look out for bikers in a hurry down the hill. some trails break off from rat pack, and are only places, and can be pretty dusty. bring some good hiking boots, or some tennis shoes you don't care much for. a lesson i was not quite prepared for. if you are ready for a quick, and easy to get to workout, with a georgous view of our state. this one is perfect for you. cameron derby, newswatch12 sports. to
