"watching out was on the scene right after the accident happened and now she's giving us a live look at the progress pacific power has been to fix the power pole that was hit. pacific power is out here trying to fix the power pole that fell after a truck hit it. although entire streets around me lost power today, many were out and about looking for ways to stay cool. it's not just homes that lost power today, the crash affected business too. central market is a convenience store down the street from the power line crash who kept it's doors open during the outage. but no electricity means it's cash only ... that didn't stop the flood of customers in and out of the store looking for a cool drink. autumn says "came here to get some drinks and things to eat." autumn's family is among the nearly 20 thousand customers who lost power today in southern oregon. kenzie says: "we were playing on our video games, my sister was playing on her xbox, i was playing on my phone and my brother was was playing on my sisters phone." autumn says "and then all of the sudden our power went out and i'm did you turn it off?? and he was its out!" oregon department of transportation detoured traffic through their neighborhoods and several surrounding streets lyn sheperds says he's never seen so many cars in front of his house. lyn says: "the traffic lines up all the way through...i thought wow this must be something pretty serious." with his power down, he and his family are turning to a the local convenience store to stay cool neighbors headed down the street in crowds to take advantage of free slurpee day at 7/11--the line was out the door. anything to stay cool until the lights came back on. autumn says "try to stay in house and keep all the doors shut and windows." oregon department of transportation says that both lanes of traffic should be open by 7. with a single lane of traffic already open, there's a lot less traffic turning now to our weather team.
