With 10 games in just one week, the Medford Mustangs have to stay focused and use Sunday's win as momentum.

was the first of 10 games the mustangs will mustang medford jumped out to a quick lead and good thing they did. c-j van meter was tough to hit after coming in to pitch in the fourth. ===== trailing 6 to 1, the eagles have two on and one out. a rope into right center and it's off to the races. j-b lewis flys around third and slides safely across home to narrow the mustangs lead to three. ===== medford's skyler gaudern would keep the rally at bay. he only allowed one runner aboard over an inning and a third of relief. ===== zac ankeny gets a pitch to hit and hits a laser into right field. he kicks in the afterburners and legs out a stand-up double. ===== gaudern deals and gets a ground ball that rolls to third. defense was firing on all cylinders late in the game and medford ends the sixth inning with a 5-4-3 double play. ===== bennett thompson out in to get the save and he gets a hitter to miss. medford wins it six to four. for thompson, going out and getting the save was just another job needed to be done. bennett thompson says, "coach just told me 'hey you're going out to pitch,' so i just knew i had to make sure i could give them an opportunity to do their job." despite errors early in the game, the defense came up big when they needed it. the mustangs pitching staff helped out too, only giving up two earned runs and four hits over seven innings of work. they also worked to strand 11 eagles on the base paths to hold out for the win. medford hitters did their part, racking up six early runs on seven hits. now the team prepares for the long road ahead in the heat. nate mayben says, "it's the summer. that's what we do. you know, we play a lot of games in a short amount of days. these guys got to learn how to be mentally tough and grind out and so, monday and tuesday. that's all we're focused on right now and then whatever comes after that, we'll do whatever we need to do there." those two doubleheaders are the only games against league opponents, that's why the focus is solely on them. after that, they'll take on australia perth baseball in an international showcase. then the mustangs will host the coach k tournament starting thursday. all games set to be played at harry and david field.
