josh says, "today we're at collings mountain trail which leads us to the peak of collings mountain. it's a nearly 7 mile down and back hike with over 2,000 feet of elevation change and a surprise along the way. t what is that surprise? well there is only one way to find out. let's take a hike." for the surprise remember this... over the river and through the woods to bigfoot's house we go. josh says, "now about a it's claimed to be the world's only bigfoot trap or sasquatch snare. but it's been bolted up since the 1980s so you're welcome to go in at your own risk and while the spray paint may say 'bigfoot was here,' i highly doubt that. but we'll keep an eye out for him along the rest of this hike." but no signs of bigfoot, just steep inclines so don't be afraid to take a break. josh says, "in one of my many stops along the trail i want to remind you that this is very close to applegate lake so bring some bug spray and don't make the mistake i did or you'll end up swatting mosquitos and flies pretty much the whole hike. let's keep going." at this points my legs are burning as the trudge uphill continues. keep an eye out for a blue ribbons tied to trees letting you know you've almost made it. josh says, "now nearly three miles later and 2,000 feet higher in the sky we've made it to collings mountain ridge and a clearing that has a 180 degree panoramic view of the cascades. now if you want you continue down that way towards collins mountain peak, but for me this is collins mountain ridge, josh shelton, newswatch 12 sports." if you are interested in learning more about this hike...
