rachel says, "about 100 people gathered here today to honor the officers who gave their lives...and to remember the sacrifices both they and their families made. nats of taps nats of reading names over taps continuing to play sheriff sickler says, "let us not forget the families left behind by officers who made the ultimate sacrifice." present! clinking of flag margie says, "it's important to remember the people that have given their lives for us." margie moulin attended today's event. her husband is a detective...her daughter is a police officer. margie says, "i think we forget the fact that they're in danger every day and every moment there at work and i think we take that for granted and i don't want to do that. that's why medford police chief randy sparacino says today is so important. chief randy sparacino says, "it's important that people understand what's involved in the sacrifice that law-enforcement has to go through to protect and serve the community." nats of bagpipes randy says, "every day you're in a heightened sense of awareness because every day there's a potential that an assailant might do something to you. you might be involved in an accident you might be involved in a felonious assault." and that, he adds, takes a toll. randy says,"it increases your body stress level when you're always in that type of condition." sickler says, "many have passed away from health related complications certainly due in part to the stressful nature of law- enforcement." names of the fallen are added to the national law enforcement officers memorial in washington d.c.. that ceremony is scheduled for tomorrow. rachel says, "that memorial has enough space for more names until 2050. in medford, rachel tiede, nw12." law enforcement officers in ce memorial service this morning at the josephine county court house. all members of josephine county law enforcement took time to remember officers lost in the line of duty.
