says: "it's not everyday a fire department is setting something on fire rathen than putting it out. but this is the last step for 5 new firefighters transitioning into klamath county fire district 1." after two weeks of training, jared hooper will finally be able to call himself a firefighter. he used to be an e-m-t with the department but now he'll be moving from the ambulance to the red fire truck. jared says: "it's something that we've all kind of dreamt of our whole lives. it's kind of tough to get into but it's a cool opportunity to serve klamath falls and the people of klamath county." but before he can officially say he's a firefighter, he had to get through his very last training---this burn to learn. the division chief of operations say this is as close to a fire emergency as the new recruits will get without there being an actual emergency. jared says: "it's a good experience to kind of just get our feet wet. we haven't--a lot of us haven't been on a fire in a couple of years so it's a they're all fairly familiar with fire. one out of the five new firefighters in the bunch is from klamath falls but was a volunteer firefighter in northern oregon. hooper is just one of four making that switch from e-m-s to firefighter. jared says: "we like the action. you never know what each day is going to bring. it's something new and just the camaraderie and brotherhood for working with a fire department is something that interests me greatly." that'll all start pretty soon for hooper. his very first shift in his new position starts next tuesday. andryanna says: "those 5 firefighters have their graduation ceremony tonight. in klamath falls, andryanna sheppard,
