ays, "the owners of the ruch country store say they love their community, and think this grant will do wonders for it." nats of cash register customer after customer greets craig hamm with a smile., nats of laughter he's co-owned this store for 21 years. he thinks this 225 thousand dollar grant for the nonprofit, which he used to work for, will greatly benefit business owners like him. craig says, "it's going to really help out the williams area the murphy area, wonder benefit from this." "a greater applegate" will create networks ...for business owners, neighborhoods, artists, and nonprofits. brooke says, "there hasn't been a network necessarily that's been applegate valley wide." brooke nuckles gentekos is the development director for "a greater applegate. she hopes these groups can meet...and learn from each other. a hope...craig echoes. craig says, "what's unique about this is that there's a lot of good ideas that come out of these meetings which you can capture. brook adds hopes she can hear from as many community members as possible....about how they want to improve their home valley and the projects they want to tackle. brooke says, "just like we wouldn't want projects things like that we really want this to be community lead and community driven." she says there will eventually be meetings ...and get-to-know-yous.... ....events to help the area grow...and to help people like craig. craig says, "this area i'd like to see become a city some day or a suburb of medford that be nice i could run for mayor laughs ." in ruch, rachel tiede, nw12. the grant comes from the ford institute.... part of this initiative, head to kdrv.com.
