mount shasta from the mount shasta resort. they've got about 30 inches on top of marmot right now...and just over a foot at the base. ad lib about conditions today is opening day! newswatch 12's andryanna sheppard spent the morning early this season. andryanna says: "opening day this year up here at mt. shasta ski park was actually supposed to be the 14th but thanks to a good storm, opening day came a few days sooner." ski nat skiers and snowboarders were anxiously waiting to hit the slopes on mount shasta. and today many made sure they were there on opening day you can't sleep the night before. people are frank two line excited they've been cooped up all summer long and ready to hit the slopes" nick satariano has skiied on opening day for more than three decades and was not going to make this year an exception. nick says: "you got to get it while you can and we want to employees say there was a pretty good turnout. taylor says: "it's not super crowded yet and a lot of people have that mid week da y to have their park to themselves so it's a good way to get your feet underneath you and figure out how to make turns again and all that." some even ditched the kids to have fun on their own. kelly says: "drop the kids off at school, did some riding. we're going to be back just in time to pick them up. they were a little bummed we didn't get to come but we can take that to school for that" even though today was opening day, employees say the real party begins this weekend. the ski park is hosting an array of fundraisers and events. in mccloud, andryanna sheppard, newswatch 12."
