medford medical center is adding a newght now there's no other surgical robot like this in southern oregon. surgeons here at providence tell me the new technology allows more complex surgeries, faster recoveries and less complications." it's called the davinci x-i. it's similar to another surgical robot. surgeons say it's an upgrade that takes their work a step further. it lets surgeons perform even more complex procedures than in the past. they call it a 'minimally invasive' robot.. meaning - it decreases the risk of having to make large incisions. the robot's real benefits come after surgery is done. it allows patients to have a speedy recovery. "overnight in the hospital or going home the same day incision." dr. nicole brooks says the robot also means less pain and scarring. the extra set of hands is possible because of the providence health foundation. the group raised 4 point 3 million dollars for the machine. it'll be used in part for abdominal surgeries, hysterectomies, and colon and hernea procedures. the robot will make it's maiden voyage on surgeries tomorrow. in medford, emma balkenbush, newswatch 12. people aren't the only ones
