newswatch 12's leah thompson is live at the cedar tree apartments in medford. leah what is going on with the investigation? the investigation is at a road block. today i spoke to the medford police department and asked them about the investigation. newswatch 12's alicia rubin was first on the scene of this fire that morning. you can see the flames on top of the building right behind her. today... patrol lieutenant justin ivens from medford police tells me they need to speak to tonya johnson. tonya lives in the apartment where police believe the fire started. about 10 hours before the fire started tonya was hit by a car. i called asante hospital today and asked about tonya's condition. the hospital told me she is still in critical condition and that's why police aren't able to talk to her. [a27]cedar apartment death-sotvo again critical that we hopefully get an opportunity to talk to the female who resided at this apartment to see if she could shed some light on maybe what what happened. lt. ivens also tells me that this case will continue the same way it has even though this little girl died. depending on the cause of the fire the district attorney could get involved and make it a criminal case. coming up at newswatch 12 at 6 hear from the little girl's aunt. the aunt tells me how at only five years old she is a hero. firefighters had to cut open a car
