[a15]cert andryanna says: "cert volunteers are taking what they learned inside the classroom and puttting it to practical use in multiple scenarios. all to prepared for ia devasting disaster were to happen." nat "is it bleeding actively?" today, 21 trainees are pretending like the big one has finally come-- the massive earthquake scientists say is overdue for coast of oregon, california and washington. nat "cert base we have 7 delayed, 3 immediate." the community preparedness coordinator for ashland fire-rescue says there are about 21 thousand people who live in ashland. ---and only 30 first responders with ashland fire-rescue. over the last few weeks, cert trainees have been training with books --learning how to assist their own communities as they await first responders. terri says: "we want the community to be prepared. we want the community to help themselves and their families and their neighbors until help arrives from outside of our area." now the cert trainees are putting that book knowledge to the test. they were met with 30 child victims who were also volunteers. audrey says: "it probably trains them to be more aware of what they are doing and more prepared." they had a wide array of injuries ---from broken bones to even someone with her intestines outside of her body. --making the mock disaster as realistic as it can get. tabitha says: "it's a little harrying because you can go through the through this, it's like real life." cert hopes if the big one does strike, the community will be better prepared. andryanna says: "ashland fire-rescue has two cert classes a year, one in the fall and one in the spring. if you are interested in becoming a volunteer, you can find out how by heading to our website kdrv dot com. in ashland, andryanna sheppard, newswatch 12." for information on what you can do to make
