[a17]coats for kids kick off-live intro right now i'm at dick's sporting goods in medford where we have one of our large red drop off bins. this is just one of 54 across jackson, josephine, and klamath counties. this is newswatch12's 28th year helping kids in our community stay warm and healthy throughout the winter months. coats for kids started in 1990 as a way to get quality used coats to children in need. it began in jackson and klamath countiesthen expanded to josephine county in 1991. on average we distribute around 4-thousand coats to kids from preschool to highschool. over the past 28 years teachers and school officials have told us that being cold has a direct impact on a kids performance in schooland overall health.
