[a18]talent truck stop refurbished-ll pkg rachel says, "the talent truck stop is hoping to be up and running by this weekend. and although it's not everything they originally hoped for, there are still improvements." this has been a long-time coming. the manager said he couldn't go on camera, but told me they have new showers and a new convienence store. and there's more in the works. the property owner told me on the phone, they are hoping to get approval to make a hotel, restaurant, and more stores... basically a full-scale travel center. that will bring job opportunities, which the owner adds will be exclusively for the talent area. sam soniminde, property owner, says, "when the big development happens we are expecting minimum will be hiring around 90- 100 people because will be having a 5500 foot building of hotel and restaurant and a 5000 ft. of convenience store." that's something shari harper is excited about. she is the property manger for the ashland talent r-v park. shari says, "actually we're looking forward to them opening a restaurant and more facilities over there he would make it a lot closer for our folks here and once again provide jobs not just for the folks in our park by for folks in the community." not everybody is happy about the new activity on this property. some neighbors say they're worried about environmental concerns, crime increases, and the impact on traffic. "it's not unusual that you're backed up to the freeway trying to get onto valley view drive." traffic was part of the reason the initial application was denied. sam says his team is working on a traffic impact study, and will submit a new application in the coming months. sam says, "in the next couple of months we should be able to submit the traffic study and get the permission to go ahead with the new development." in the meantime, truckers can still get diesel fuel here...a shower...and a sandwich. in talent, rachel tiede, newswatch12. newswatch 12 spoke to the
