The Roundball Wrap: Faust Goes Over 1,000 Career Points, Vranes Hits 70-footer

Needing only two points to break 1,000 for his North Medford career, senior guard Kaison Faust blew past the threshold, pouring in 27 to lead the Black Tornado to a win over Grants Pass.

MEDFORD, Ore.—In a busy Tuesday night of high school basketball action, North Medford’s Kaison Faust and Crater’s Jayden Vranes stole the show.

Faust exploded for 27 points in the Black Tornado’s 65-51 win over Grants Pass, passing the 1,000-point mark for his high school career. With the win, North Medford now finds itself in a three-way tie atop the Southwest Conference.

In Class 5, Crater sophomore Jayden Vranes sunk a near full-court shot to beat the third quarter buzzer, propelling the Comets to a 81-66 win over Churchill.

The South Medford girls got back in the win column with a 66-38 trouncing of Roseburg. Junior guard Ula Chamberlin led the Panthers with 21 points and sophomore guard Bella Pedrojetti chipped in with 19.

In the 3A Southern Cascade League, both the Cascade Christian boys and girls are off to 3-0 starts. The boys were paced by 16 points from Ben Dunn and took care of Illinois Valley, 61-32.
