ASHLAND—With the help of the NewsWatch 12 sports department, Team White picked apart Team Black, and took home bragging rights in the 2018 SOU football spring game.

Combined with touchdowns from Michael Roots, Rey Vega and Ben Bachman, the excellent play call from Jacob Kornhauser and inspirational tactics from Jake Garcia were too much to overcome for the opposition, enabling Team White to cruise to a 28-14 win.

"We're a better team today than we were from day one and that might be understated,” SOU head coach Charlie Hall said. “When you look at every position and how players have adapted to the new year—it's more than just the offensive plays and the defensive plays—it's new roles and leadership. Those are the things that I look at. How are we coming together as a team, who's stepping up as a leader, are we bought into the philosophy of the program? I do see that as an improvement."

Watch the video above for a behind-the-scenes look at the guest coaching debuts from Kornhauser and Garcia, as well as highlights and reaction from the game itself.
