MEDFORD, Ore. — Five Owls and two Raiders get their 2021 seasons started and all seven of them walk away with player of the week awards in their respective sports. In no particular order, here they are:

Oregon Tech

Baseball

Patrick Arman was named the Pitcher of the Week for his dominant performance in the Owls 9-1 win over the College of Idaho. He threw seven innings, gave up one run on five hits while striking out ten Yotes batters in the freshman's debut performance.

Arman is joined by teammate Dalton Daily who was dubbed Player of the Week. The junior shortstop went 9-for-20 with two home runs and accounted for six runs while driving in seven more.

Women's Soccer

Amy Morikawa received Defender of the Week honors for her role in the Owls 7-0 win over Simpson. The senior defender anchored an OIT defense that gave up only a single shot in the victory.

On the offensive end, it was Maddie Miller who shown brightest in the dominating performance to kick off the spring season. The sophomore got her first hat trick of her college career with three of the seven scores last Friday.

Volleyball

Nicole Reyes played a huge part in Oregon Tech's three wins this weekend, including a comeback from two sets down against William Jessup on Saturday. She finished the week with 3.33 kills and 1.75 digs per set average. The junior was a threat at the line, finishing with seven aces and helping OIT grab 11-straight points from the service line. Reyes boasted a .243 attack percentage over the three matches. All of it added up to an Attacker of the Week award.

Southern Oregon

Softball

Gabby Sandoval was unstoppable this weekend and easily took home the Pitcher of the Week award. In four games she pitched three times, earning two wins and a save. In her 14 innings of work, she struck out 18 batters and improved to a 92-17 career record, which is good enough for 11th all-time in the NAIA.

At the plate, Hannah Shimek was a menace, going 9-for-15 with six runs scored and two stolen bases. She was named the Player of the Week by the CCC for her work this weekend. Shimek is now second all-time on the Raiders charts for hits (185), RBIs (115), and runs scored (138) and is third in stolen bases (71).
