MEDFORD, Ore.—South Medford running back Jaylin Parnell announced Sunday he has committed to Western Oregon University.

The announcement comes just one day after his high school teammate, fellow wideout Jaalen Owens, pledged his allegiance to Western Oregon as well.

The all-state running back had received offers from Southern Oregon University and College of Idaho, but instead will head to Monmouth to play for the Wolves and head coach Arne Ferguson at the NCAA Division II level.

Parnell told NewsWatch 12 back in December that he does not have any preferences when it comes to playing offensively or defensively at the collegiate level. As a linebacker for the Panthers, he earned 6A Defensive Player of the Year.

Parnell joins a Wolves team that didn’t have one rusher with over 400 yards in 2017. The Wolves do however return 16 linebackers in 2018.
