ASHLAND—The opening of Lithia Motors Pavilion has been a long time coming.
And while there’s no official opening date for the new Southern Oregon University gymnasium and rec center, students, alumni and anyone with a Facebook page got a sneak peek inside on Tuesday.

The new basketball courts are obviously a welcome sight to the men’s and women’s teams that have been at Ashland High School for the past two years. There’s also a two-story high climbing wall, as part of the outdoor program section.
Perhaps most importantly, there are separate locker rooms for both the basketball and wrestling teams.
"In the old (gym), we were very short on locker rooms,” associate athletic director Bobby Heiken said. “With the stadium project and now this project, we're able to make sure everyone has a home."
