MEDFORD, Ore. — There was a tie headed into the bottom of the sixth before Omar Ortiz picked up his second RBI of the night on a sacrifice grounder to second, scoring Vince Zavolta from third. It would end up being the winning run for the Medford Rogues in their season opener against the Mustangs.
The Rogues only game up one earned run to the Medford Mustangs on Tuesday night at Harry & David Field to secure their first win.
The Mustangs, an American Legion team also playing an independent schedule this summer after the American Legion canceled all official seasons amidst the pandemic, scored three runs between the third and fourth innings to tie it up after giving up three in the first inning.
The Mustangs' next games are on Thursday with a doubleheader starting at 4 pm against the Fairfield Expos and then against the Humboldt Eagles at 6:30 pm.
The Rogues also play Thursday in the first of a four-game series against the San Francisco Seals.
