BILLINGS, Montana--- It had been 651 days since SOU Football played a competitive football game. The time off was evident as Southern Oregon suffered a 42-28 loss to Rocky Mountain on Saturday.
Stats have not been made official through Rocky Mountain as of yet, but unofficially and according to Southern Oregon Athletics, Rocky Mountain QB Nathan Dick completed 19 of 30 throws for 206 yards.
Southern Oregon switched quarterbacks several times, alternating between starter Trent Banner and Matt Struck.
The rust was evident quickly. Southern Oregon gave up a safety on a botched punt snap just a minute into the game.
Southern Oregon would take the lead soon after. Struck connected with Logan Nichols on a 96-yard pass that set Trent Banner up for a two-yard touchdown run. The score gave SOU a 7-5 lead.
From that point forward, Rocky Mountain piled up the points. Southern Oregon would connect on touchdowns to Ben Graziani and Jackson Clemmer, but neither were enough to bring the Raiders close enough.

Southern Oregon will play its first home game of the season on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. SOU will take on Montana State-Northern for the home opener.
