CORVALLIS, Ore. — It was a wild night inside Gill Coliseum as the unranked Oregon State Beavers took down the 14th-ranked Ducks to win their third straight Civil War game.
Oregon State entered the second half down by four but outscored Oregon 35 to 21 in the second half to secure the victory in front of the home crowd.
The Beavers were led by junior guard Ethan Thompson who collected 15 points and four assists in 35 minutes of play. Kylor Kelley and Tres Tinkle were right behind him with 14 and 13 points, respectively. As a team, Oregon State shot over 54 percent from the field in the second half and went 2-for-6 from behind the arc.
As for the Ducks, it was the opposite. They went ice cold from three-point range in the second half making only two of their 11 three-point attempts. Payton Pritchard did all he could to help No. 14 Oregon, scoring a team-high 16 points and tallying nine assists.
The two teams will meet again later this month in Eugene for round two of the Civil War series. The game is set for an 8 pm start at Matthew Knight Arena.
