EUGENE -- After two innings, it was all but over. The Oregon softball team was up 7-0 on Kentucky in their winner-take-all super regional Game 3 and the visitors were demoralized. UO cruised to an 11-1 win to send them back to the College World Series.

The second inning started out innocently enough with a Shannon Rhodes solo home run to get the scoring started. A Jenna Lilley RBI single made it 2-0 and with the bases loaded, D.J. Sanders provided the knockout punch. Sanders launched a grand slam to left-center to blow the game open, giving the Ducks a six-run lead.

Sanders said when she transferred to Oregon that her choice was based on her ability to play in the College World Series with the Ducks. Now, she will be able to do exactly that. Oregon is into the field of eight teams in the World Series, just as they were last year.

The Women's College World Series begins Thursday, May 31 and wraps up either June 5 or 6 depending on the results of the championship series.
