CORVALLIS, Ore. — An emotional day for Sabrina Ionescu was capped off by a 66-57 win over No. 7 Oregon State on Sunday, as the Ducks swept the season series for the first time since 2010.
Ionescu scored 19 points while tallying eight rebounds and three assists just hours after receiving the news that her good friend and Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant had died in a helicopter crash that morning.
"Everything I do, I do it for him," Ionescu said after the game when asked about how she played after learning of Bryant's death. "This season's for him."
Satou Sabally added 16 more points and nine more rebounds for the Ducks, helping the fourth-ranked Ducks outscore the Beavers 32 to 20 in the second half.
Mikayla Pivec was the only player on Oregon State to score more than 10 points. The senior secured a double-double as she put up 20 points and 12 rebounds in the Beavers third loss in a row and fourth Pac-12 loss this season.
