Lewiston, Ida--- The Medford Mustangs long run for an American Legion Northwest Regional Tournament championship is over.
Medford lost to Kennewick, 1-0, on Saturday. That brings an end to Medford's season.
The bats were cold for Medford. Chase Costanti got the only hit for the Mustangs.
Looking back at this season, Medford should still be a proud squad. There were a lot of questions as to how this season would turn out. Medford came into this year with a very young group. After an inconsistent start to the season, Medford rifled off 13 wins in a row. The win streak would set Medford up for a post-season push that saw the Mustangs win their 6th consecutive state championship.
Medford started 2-0 in the regional tournament, which included other state champions from around the US.
A young group at the start of this season could mean a more experienced group for next season. That will all depend on who makes the team next year.
The Mustangs could be very poised to push for another state title.
