OKLAHOMA CITY — Team USA announced the roster for the 2020 Olympic team and one former Duck will be headed to Tokyo next summer.
Janie Takeda-Reed, a three-time NFCA All-American at the University of Oregon, is part of the 15-person roster that will represent the United States in softball's return to the Olympic stage after being removed from the official program in 2012.
Takeda-Reed was part of the two gold medalist teams in the 2016 and 2018 WBSC Women's World Championship. In those two world championship runs, she hit .361 with a home run, 8 RBI and 12 runs scored.
"It wasn't really ever a dream of mine because I never thought that I would be at the level of my heroes," Takeda-Reed said in her Team USA bio. "It means the world to me to be able to represent this amazing country and play alongside some of the best in the game."
