Golf Tip of the Week: Cougar Canyon Golf Course

The Golf Tip of the Week from Cougar Canyon Golf Course in Myrtle Creek.

MYRTLE CREEK -- Settled in a nice midpoint between Eugene and Medford, Cougar Canyon Golf Course provides a great course driveable for most in Oregon. There are also five sets of tees, so golfers of various skill levels can feel right at home.

Clyde Johnson, who works in the clubhouse, said it would be foolish to overestimate yourself. That can get you into trouble during your round. Johnson said most of the mistakes he sees are with people trying to swing too hard and slicing the ball one way or the other.

Quickly, on hole 2, you have to adjust to the wind, which can naturally slice your shot. Johnson said to try and slice it through the wind to avoid the issue, which is easier said than done.

Although it's more than an hour north of Medford, Johnson said people from Northern California come routinely to experience the beautiful course.
