EUGENE, Ore. — While a weather delay pushed the start time back about a half-hour, the No. 4 Oregon Ducks rolled to their third victory of the season, putting away Stony Brook 48-7 in Autzen Stadium.
There were flashes of the Fresno State game when Stony Brook scored as time expired in the first quarter to make it a 10-7 game with Oregon leading. The Ducks took a 17-7 into the half and came out with a fire under their feathers.
Anthony Brown was seen walking gingerly to the locker room after being wrapped up awkwardly at the end of a tackle, so Ty Thompson took over for the Oregon offense. The freshman out of Gilbert, Arizona went 6-for-9 and 82 yards with a pair of touchdowns.
The run game was once again solid for the Ducks, relying on the two-headed monster in the backfield of Travis Dye and CJ Verdell. The two combined for 141 yards and a score. Dye came up with the touchdown in the third quarter to give UO a 31-7 lead and ensure the victory was imminent for his team.
Oregon will host Arizona next week to open up Pac-12 play. Kickoff for their match-up at Autzen is set for 7:30 pm on ESPN.
