EUGENE, Ore. — One team won in commanding fashion while the other preferred a more dramatic finish. No matter the case, Hidden Valley and Crater High Schools will be playing for a state title.
The Mustangs took down the defending 3A State Champions 42-22 on Saturday at Cottage Grove High School. It was the closest game of the year by Hidden Valley standards, only 20 points separating them from Rainer.
Hidden Valley will play for the 3A State Championship on November 30th at 12 pm at Roseburg High School.
The Crater Comets game ended with a flash of drama and heroics. Down 17 to 16 at the half, the Comets clawed their way back into the game and took a lead with under five and a half minutes left to play. As West Albany drove down the field, a pass near the endzone was tipped and then picked off by Tyler Ennis to secure Crater's fate.
Crater will play for the 5A State Championship on November 30th at 5 pm at Roseburg high school.
