NEAR ASHLAND, Ore. -- At nearly 6,000 feet, Pilot Rock is a unique volcanic plug that offers unprecedented views of northern California and southern Oregon.
The hike is moderate until the base of Pilot Rock which requires scramble to the top.
Thanks to Siskiyou Mountain Club and Medford's Bureau of Land Management (BLM), the trail leading up the Pilot Rock is in near perfect condition.
The trail is clearly marked with new signs at each junction, which includes a few footsteps on the Pacific Crest Trail.
