OUTSIDE JACKSONVILLE, Ore. -- Squaw Lakes Trail outside of Jacksonville is a popular place for hiking, camping and kayaking.

The entire loop trail is about two and a half miles long and has about 265 feet of elevation change.

It's important to note that it can be difficult getting to the lake, so it's best to bring a 4-wheel-drive vehicle.

The well maintained area is also popular for fisherman, for those not into hiking.

The trail features the crystal clear lakes, part of the Rogue-Siskiyou National Forest. There are 19 camp sites around the lakes that can be reserved online.

The next time you're looking for a great hike high up in the mountains, head to Squaw Lakes Trail.
