SANTA CRUZ, Cal. — The top-ranked Stanford women's basketball squad used a late third-quarter run to take No. 11 Oregon down, 70-63, on Friday.
Haley Jones led the Cardinal with 18 points. It was Francesca Belibi's three-point play with 17 seconds left in the third that finished off a 9-0 Stanford run. The run gave Stanford enough space to survive a late Oregon charge and to secure the victory.
Sydney Parrish led the Ducks from off the bench with 14 points. Erin Boley, Nyara Sabally, and Te-Hina PaoPao all scored in double-figures.
Friday's loss marks the second consecutive defeat for the Ducks. Oregon will be back in action on Sunday. The Ducks will tip against California at 1:00 p.m.
The victory for Stanford will surely help it stay atop the national rankings. The Cardinal has been ranked in the top spot of the AP poll for five consecutive weeks.
Stanford was scheduled to play Oregon State on Sunday. That game has been postponed. Up next, Stanford will hit the road for a contest with Utah on Friday, January 15.
