STORMWATCH: Winter Storm Will Make For Difficult Travel Sunday Into Monday

Heavy snow and strong winds will begin tonight as a part of a winter storm that will last through Monday. The storm will bring inches of snow to the area with even snow accumulations for parts of the valley.

Heavy snow and strong winds will begin tonight as a part of a winter storm that will last through Monday. Snow levels will plummet into Sunday with bursts of snow showers likely in the westside valleys and even down to the Oregon coast.

A winter storm warning is issued for the higher elevatons of Curry, Josephine, Jackson, and western Klamath counties. A winter weather advisory is issued for lower elevations and the valleys of Curry, Josephine, Jackson, Siskiyou, and Klamath counties. A high wind warning is issued for parts of Klamath and Lake counties. 

Several inches of snow are expected in elevations above 2,000 ft, even a couple inches of snow are possible in the westside valleys. 

Snow Amounts: 

  1. Cascade Passes: 10-15 Inches
  2. I-5 Passes: 3-6 Inches
  3. Highway 97: 3-6 Inches
  4. Westside Valleys: 1-2 Inches Possible. 

Snow and ice are expected on roads above 2,000 ft. The Oregon Department of Transportation recommends drivers have chains in their cars at all times.
