MERLIN, Ore. — Wildlife Images Rehabilitation & Education Center recently got a visit from famed Crocodile Hunter family the Irwins ahead of an upcoming episode on Animal Planet. According to Wildlife Images, the Irwin family dropped by with a film crew to document health checks on a brown bear named Kodi and a cougar named Brady.
Wildlife Images said that Terri Irwin is a longtime supporter of their organization and assisted in the health checks. Meanwhile, the film crew from Crikey! It's the Irwins documented the procedures and learned about the rehab and education efforts that Wildlife Images undertakes.
"Kodi, a 27-year-old brown bear, was showing signs of arthritis," the animal rehab center said in a statement. "Wildlife Images also suspected tooth decay due to regular drooling. Both issues are common for bears of similar age."
During the procedure, staff removed two of Kodi's teeth and decided to adjust Kodi's arthritis medication.
7-year-old cougar Brady got a basic health check and x-rays since he's relatively young, Wildlife Images said.
"During his procedure x-rays of his hips and ankles were taken, along with blood samples, and exams of both his eyes and teeth," the organization said.
The episode featuring Wildlife Images will air November 9 as part of Crikey! It’s the Irwins' second season. The rehab center said that it has appeared before on The Crocodile Hunter when Steve and Terri Irwin brought in Terri's beloved cougar, Malina, for care.
