MEDFORD, Ore. -- Rep. Greg Walden (R-Ore.) hosted three town halls today, some getting heated at times.

First stop: Grants Pass High School. The auditorium was about one-third full. Walden discussed a wide-range of issues, from wildfires, border security, opioids, the Russia investigation, and housing.

Walden hasn't done a town hall meeting in this region since 2017, but said he's done more than 100 over the past six years, as well as hosted phone call town halls, answered emails, and answered comments online.

"We've accomplished a lot over the past couple of years for the district and the state and more work needs to be done this Congress," Walden said. "I also want to hear what is on people's minds as well."

The second stop of the day was at Central Medford High School Auditorium. This meeting was more heated. The main focuses of this meeting were housing, renewable energy, and immigration. Several audiences member pressed Walden on the ongoing shutdown.

In response, he stressed the bipartisan bills he's passed, and called for more bipartisanship. He also said he supports a wall along some stretches of the border, as well as using fencing and technology where that's better suited.

"We've got to get control of the border," Walden said. "Then we can have an organized immigration system."

Walden voted for a funding bill that would reopen the government, but did not include funding for the border wall. It's currently making it's way through the Senate. Walden says he voted for the Democrat's bill because wants federal employees to be able to get back to work.

He voted against a separate funding bill that would include immigration security funding, because he said there wasn't enough.

Walden wrapped up his day in Klamath Falls at OIT with a town hall at 3:30.
