EAGLE POINT, Ore.- Today the entire nation is taking a moment to honor the men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
Memorial Day events were held all over the Rogue Valley. In Eagle Point families gathered to place flags and flowers at the headstones of loved ones.
Eagle Point National Cemetery staff say Scenic Middle School students placed around 20,000 flags on gravesites throughout the grounds.
Representative Sal Esquivel and Senator Ron Wyden were at the event. Local veterans were there today as well, honoring who they call brothers and sisters.
But they say today is not the only day we should remember them.
The event included a Scottish bagpipe band, a rifle salute and a flyover from the Oregon Air National Guard's 173rd fighter wing.
