At the Asante Hospital in Grants Pass they are using new technology to make rooms even cleaner then they were before. One of those machines is in the critical care section of the hospital.
It's called is an Optimum UV System. They are very easy to use. When the lights on go that means it's sterilizing the room.
when the lights go on. It takes about 5 minutes to do a section. A normal patient's room would take 10 minutes. Adam Mayle works in the critical care section of the hospital. He says the number of patients discharged determines how often the machine is used.
Adam Dockery the Manager of Hospitality Services says "Good manual cleaning with a high level disinfectant it works.. but to throw one more thing into keeping our families safe. Ultraviolet lighting is really neat it breaks down the DNA of the pathogen and so it really nothing is left behind inside the room."
The hospital has two of these systems. Both were gifted to the hospital by Three Rivers Auxiliary.
