KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. — Two young men have been arrested following the theft of an abandoned vehicle and a subsequent foot chase, according to the Klamath County Sheriff's Office (KCSO).
The Klamath Falls Police Department (KFPD) were investigating the theft of an abandoned vehicle Wednesday morning around 8 a.m. when the vehicle was spotted stuck near Balsam Drive Gravel Pit. The abandoned vehicle had gone missing several days before.
When a KFPD officer arrived in the area, he saw two men running from a Chevrolet Suburban which had been stolen on Tuesday night. The Chevrolet was taken from the South Suburban area of Klamath Falls.
KCSO arrived to aid in pursuing the two suspects, culminating in a multi-agency hunt with 7 deputies and officers combing the area. The officers chased both suspects for more than a mile, with the suspects eventually "running in circles" to evade capture.
Both suspects were arrested after they became separated.
The two suspects were 20-year-old Anthony Glass, and an unidentified 16-year-old male (name withheld as he is a minor). Both have been charged with Unlawful Use of a Motor Vehicle and Attempting to Elude on Foot.
Local citizens aided the officers by offering access to their property and the use of an ATV to pursue the suspects.
"Klamath County has great citizens," said Sheriff Chris Kaber. "Thank you."
