PORTLAND, Ore. -- The National Weather Service confirmed Monday that a tornado touched down Monday afternoon at 5:24 PM about 3 miles northeast of downtown Portland. The tornado was rated an EF-0 on the Enhanced Fujita Scale with winds of 80 mph. That's considered a weak tornado. The tornado was on the ground for one mile and was about 40 yards wide.
Tree damage was observed with several large branches down and a few trees uprooted. A power pole was leaning over and several houses in the area had some shingles torn off roofs. There was also damage to gutters and chimneys reported too. Overall, minor damage was observed with no injuries reported.
